When I was 16, and in my last DNOTS, my mother proposed that I get a curator. I obstinately refused, out of my habitual fear of being controlled and I shivered at the thought of having my finances managed by my mother and restricted from use.
My motto in life was, mind control = bad, freedom = good. And I had a very black and white barometer concerning this duality which was reinforced by MK-Ultra medical gaslighting and very unrealistic expectations of my duties, of my true ability and potential. Minimization in general. How can you expect me to never achieve full autonomy yet expect me also , to endure such extreme levels of chronic stress and obligations
Now 3 years later, I can retrospectively see better why she was interested in a curator. Originally it was going to be someone in the public government, but it was my only option. I do not enjoy it when a 16 year old has to be contrived to accept governmental options because they’re too young. But 19 onwards now, I recently moved back in with my mother and >curator> is a role she already does. It’s not only money. It is about being a sort of backup to guide me towards better responsibility and decisions. We have recovered from the past drama, but the message here is, that I realized you do not need the government to legally recognize something your trusted one already intends to do. It is about collaboration only.
Why legally recognize it? Even if I was abroad, it would not be necessary if we already established a mutual agreement that is unwritten, not on any sheet of paper or PDF file.
The social workers never bespoke of these loopholes, obvious reasons. I think that many loopholes exist in this sense and the end all be all goal is to fully get out of the old system, or as fully as I can. And I am definitely not alone.
Maybe they do this so they can red flag people and reinforce the illusion of being obligated to a power in control. Most social workers have no or little idea of the whole picture of what happens with the minors and the social services globally. (DUMBs and chimera rescues)
You can go beyond loopholes. They may help you quit the old system, but you can quit all the BS altogether the most you can, within the “illusions”. You can get in your car and drive to the other side of the continent and become nomadic, or just.. whatever other option. Such as creating self-sustained cities.
